Wickenburg Ranch is technically outside the Phoenix Valley, located in Wickenburg about 45 minutes northwest of the main metro area. But it's simply too good a community to leave off this list.

Wickenburg itself is a charming ranch and cowboy town with genuine character — grocery stores and local dining are readily available, and the pace of life reflects the laid-back, western spirit of the area. That said, the remoteness is real. If you need a Target, Costco, or a trip to the airport, you're looking at roughly 45 minutes to an hour and a half respectively. This is a community for people who have made peace with that trade-off — and most residents here have, happily.

What you get in return is nothing short of exceptional. The community center has a beautiful rustic style that fits perfectly with the surrounding landscape, the homes are stunning, and the rolling foothill views are some of the most dramatic of any community on this list. The golf course is excellent, and the amenities cover everything you need — pools, fitness center, sporting courts, and a full calendar of clubs and activities.

The overall feel here is high-end, tight-knit, and genuinely peaceful. Crime is very low, the community is welcoming, and there's a real sense of belonging that comes from living somewhere a little off the beaten path.

If your budget allows and you don't need to venture into Phoenix frequently, Wickenburg Ranch is absolutely worth a serious look. It's a special place.
