Anthem Country Club is a guard-gated golf and country club community located in Anthem at the northern edge of the Phoenix metro area. It's not age-restricted, but it has a strong retiree and empty-nester demographic and very much carries that feel. It's part of Del Webb's larger master-planned Anthem community, which gives residents access to an impressive range of amenities both inside and outside the gates.
Location is the main trade-off — you're about 40 miles from Sky Harbor, making it one of the more remote options on this list. That said, grocery stores, dining, a Walmart, and the Outlet Shops at Anthem are all close by, and Downtown Phoenix is a straight shot south on I-17. The setting is genuinely beautiful, with Daisy Mountain as a backdrop and sweeping views of the North Valley.
Homes were built by Del Webb between 1999 and 2006, all single-level, with around 3,100 total residences and a wide variety of floor plans. The amenities are anchored by two clubhouses — Persimmon and Ironwood — each with pools, fitness centers, dining, and social spaces, plus two 18-hole championship golf courses, eight tennis courts, and dedicated pickleball courts. Social membership is included with homeownership; golf membership is separate.
For buyers who want a true country club lifestyle in a scenic North Phoenix location without a strict age restriction, Anthem Country Club is hard to overlook.
Pros:
Gated, scenic, quiet, great golf and amenities
Cons:
A bit far North, expensive homes, golf and HOA fees
